General Feedback from Gerhard based on the Presentations at April 4: |
---|
clearly identify a CORE IDEA which you pursued in your research
relate your research to the topics discussed in the COURSE
APPLY your research to a particular system / environment / organization
develop a realistic assessment what you (as a team) will be able to achieve BEFORE the final independent research presentation on April 18 and April 20
think about SELF-APPLICATION: you designed something, you learnt something, you collaborated –> did your independent research contribute to do your own work better?
for final presentation:
post the slides (powerpoint or whatever) on your SWiki site
use fonts large enough so the people in the classroom can read it
assuming you have split up the work done among the members of your group: include in your final report a table showing the focus of the individual contributors
a few individual remarks: |
---|
Design Group
what is unique about "design for learning"? as compared to "design for ..."
how have new media influenced/changed "design for learning"?
your six criteria:
(1) to which extent are there "versus" or "and" relationship between them
(2) there are trade-offs associated with each criteria
(3) apply the criteria to a specific systems (e.g.: our Swiki, or ....)
(4) how is "coherence" related to the reseeding phase in the seeding, evolutionary growth, (3) reseeding model
Learning Group
you talk about social vs individual learning and point to the paper "In Defense of Cheating" – question: is the paper discussed on March 30 "Benyond Binary Choices: Integrating Individual and Social Creativity" also relevant?
you shifted to a technology in education emphasis — question: how is this related to "gift-wrapping" (see lecture on Jan 19)
with respect to distance education: reflect upon the follwoing saying: "distance learning is different from classroom learning from a distance"
maybe you can develop a trade-off analysis (strength and weaknesses) in the form of a table for video games and distance education
Collaboration Group
interview crucial people: (1) who did you interview? (2) what did you try to find out? (3) which question did you ask (4) did the interviewees' answer support or contradict your research findings?
smart mobs: (1) define them (2) analyze their strength and weaknesses
motivation to contribute – reflect about the slogan: "who is the beneficiary and who has to the work?'
any comments on the slogan from your research: "collaborative tools will not work in a non-collaborative society"
what is the relationship between extreme democracy and the arguments in the "couch potato" article (March 7)
you talk about "making all voices heard" –> you might find it interesting to take a brief look at: Fischer, G. (2005) "Social Creativity: Making All Voices Heard." In, Proceedings of the HCI International Conference (HCII), Las Vegas, July 2005, p. (in press). http://l3d.cs.colorado.edu/~gerhard/papers/social-creativity-hcii-2005.pdf
