Independent Research Proposal (2/11/04)

Team Members:

  • Andrew Skalet (deleted for anti-spam)

Research Area:

  • Design

Research Proposal:

  • This research project will focus on design. Specifically, it will reference the book “The Design of Everyday Things” by Donald A. Norman (author of “Things that Make us Smart) and apply its philosophy to the design of User Interface’s (UI’s). In the reference book, Norman tries to emphasis user-friendly design in everything from physical objects to computer programs. In our project, we will develop analogies between “best design practices” in user-interfaces to other non-computer related objects (i.e., a dishwasher, public transit system, etc…). In theory, the same principle of user-friendly design should relate to all end-user systems, not just computer media.
